שרשור "ראשון"

שלום לכל. מאחר שעניתי במספר שרשורים פה - ראוי שאציג את עצמי: שמי רון. בעבר גרתי בחיפה. כיום בארה"ב.

OK, I just spent 10 minutes trying to write this on a keyboard without Hebrew letters - and it drives me nuts - so I am back to English. Sorry about it - but I honestly do not remember how to write properly without the markings.

Anyway, before moving to NYC I had a 1988 Alfa Romeo Spider. It was sold around 1994 when I moved. Sometimes I wonder if anyone knows where it is today. I must have some pictures of the car somewhere that I can scan and upload. The Avatar is me in that car - but I must have better pictures of it somewhere.

Currently no Alfas in my garage. I do have one proper "classic" car - an old roundie BMW 2002 which is very nice. It does not have the romantic feel of the old Alfa - but it is very nice and reliable.

I also have a future classic that I use as a daily driver - a 1993 Miata. It seems, if I read the forum properly, that I am driving the unofficial Israeli car of the masses - a 1600cc Mazda. At least it is not automatic - and from what I noticed when I came for visits - Miatas do not exactly grow on trees in Israel either.

If anyone is interested - I can try to find some pictures of my cars. I like classic cars, always have. It is a shame that I did not know of the vibrant classic car scene when I lived there.

alot to see and do in the classics stuff in the ny area, mind u now most is over untill next april.

im going out for a drive this weekend, prob my last of the year (this sucks), maybe we can meet up. saturday

He is a nice guy. I was thinking about buying his Saab ("Lucky") when it was for sale the first time - but ran across the BMW and went for it instead.

אתה לוקח את המיאטה למסלול לפעמים? יש עליה רול-באר?

Hi Moti, I used to take the Miata to the track and it has a rollbar - used to autocross it as well - but about 5 years ago got a Birkin S3 (That's like a Caterham 7 with a south african chassis - hence the handle) for this purpose.

In the last couple of years I started doing more off-road rallycrossing with my wife's Subaru. We have 2 kids now - so not enough time to do both on and off road events - so when I have the time - I mostly do the rallying with the grocery getter.

When the kids will get older - I plan on getting an old Subaru, put a rollcage in it and go for club rally events. In the meantime - just rallycross for me, I am afraid.

Here is a picture of the Birkin - it looks a bit different now - have a Kirkey racing seat in there and it is not as shiny. I now need to decide if I want to invest more money in it - remove the windscreen and replace with a brookline screen and wink mirror - or sell it and experience something else.

הדילמות האלו מוכרות לי היטב.

בכל מקרה, סחטיין, אני מושקע יותר מדי במיאטה שלי ובכל הקשור למסלול בשביל להשקיע גם במכונית לראליקרוס או לקלאב ראלי, זה פשוט יותר מדי כסף בשביל לעשות גם את זה וגם את זה למרות שהייתי שמח מאוד לשחק גם בחולות מדי פעם... Oh well, בהזדמנות.
